Optional Handheld Ground Control Station
Coming Mid 2011
Simple and Intuitive
The Handheld Ground Control Station (GCS) incorporates all the features of both the Handheld Controller and Video Base Station in one compact and ergonomic package. Usage is simple and intuitive. Using the integrated trackball and directional control pad, you can navigate through the well thought out and consistent menu system to access all of the handheld GCS features. Every function, from accessing the telemetry display to directly controlling the helicopter is easy and intuitive to use. Altitude, GPS hold, and even camera tilt pan and zoom functions can be controlled using the Handheld Ground Control Station. Using both the Handheld Controller and Video Base Station functions at the same time has never been simpler with the Draganflyer Handheld GCS.
802.11n Wireless Network
The Handheld Ground Control Station features a built in 802.11n wireless network interface, which allows you to connect to Wifi hotspots and IP cameras. 802.11n is the latest standard wireless network protocol, and is used already by millions of mobile devices around the world. Increased range and signal strength mean that you receive the best pictures and video possible, streamed directly to the Handheld Ground Control Station.
Live Telemetry Link
The Draganflyer X8 UAV is constantly sending telemetry information to the Handheld Ground Control Station. The Handheld Ground Control Station displays the same telemetry information that the Video Base Station does, but in a package that is small enough to hold comfortably in your hands. Everything from helicopter battery levels to GPS accuracy and position errors is displayed live on an intuitive instrument layout.
Ergonomic Controls
Ergonomics is the art and science of optimizing the interaction of humans and technology. Months of careful research went in to making sure that the Handheld GCS fits perfectly in the hands of users. Everything from the position of controls to the location of the 6.3 inch display screen has been optimized for comfortable and intuitive use. The Handheld GCS feels comfortable in your hands, and provides easy access to all helicopter functions and telemetry displays. The onboard software was also designed ergonomically; with the included functions organized in a way that most users find simple and logical.
KMZ file Flight Data Logging
The Handheld GCS automatically logs each flight to a KMZ file. KMZ files are compatible with many 3 D earth viewing programs, including Google Earth. You can quickly and easily import a KMZ file to your computer and see exactly where the helicopter was during your flight. Photos are geo-tagged, with each picture you take marked on the display. Important flight information, such as battery levels, GPS position errors, and other sensor readouts are also logged using the Draganflyer X8s onboard flight computer and black box data recorder.
IP Camera Support
The Handheld GCS supports viewing and saving video from IP cameras. IP cameras work by sending wireless video digitally, over an 802.11n wifi network. Unlike conventional analog cameras, IP cameras are not limited to resolutions supported by NTSC or PAL standards. IP cameras can transmit megapixel resolution video at a rate of up to 30fps. Because IP cameras use a digital protocol to transmit information, they are virtually impervious to random noise and interference. In the event of poor signal quality, frame rate drops while image quality remains the same. IP cameras also have an internal memory buffer, which allows you to capture still pictures while the camera is still recording video.
Built in DVR
The Handheld GCS supports recording received video directly to its internal solid state memory. The video is recorded in a standard format that can be easily imported to almost any software program for editing or publication.
