Safety Features
Designed for Safety
Every feature of the Draganflyer X4 UAV has been designed with safety features. Electric power, brushless motors, and advanced flight stability software all work together to give you the ultimate in safety and reliability.
Light & Fast
Unlike conventional UAVs, the Draganflyer X4 is very small and light. At a length of about one foot and a weight at less than a kilogram, the Draganflyer X4 poses minimal risk to personnel and equipment. A light and flexible carbon fiber frame absorbs impacts, reducing the damage that can occur in a collision.
Radio Failsafe
Should the transmitter ever lose contact with the helicopter, the helicopter will automatically land and shut off the motors. This ensures that the helicopter can land safely, even in the worst case scenario.
Advanced Auto Stabilization
The Draganflyer X4 flight computer continually monitors the output from 3 accelerometers, 3 gyroscopes, and a barometric pressure sensor. With this information, the helicopter automatically levels itself during flight. This means that if you ever get into trouble, you can let go of the controls and let the helicopter automatically restore straight and level flight.
When taking aerial pictures and video, use the altitude hold feature to keep the helicopter in position, freeing you from having to concentrate on two things at once. This feature increases the saftey of the pilot, and helps ensure that the camera and helicopter do not become damaged in a crash.
Extremely Bright Navigation Lights

The Draganflyer X4 has 8 bright navigational lights allow you to accurately judge its position and orientation. Because you know where the helicopter is at all times, collisions and other accidents are very unlikely. Because the navigational lights use LED technology, they are able to be seen in the dark, dusk, and even in direct sunlight.
Advanced Data Logging Software
Every second, the Draganflyer X4 helicopter processes the output from many flight sensors. All of this data is automatically transmitted to the controller, and then saved to a data log file on the included Micro-SD card. This log file can be read using our included software, or spreadsheet programs like Microsoft Excel™. Every sensor output is logged, so you can do extensive post flight analysis. This is useful for debugging flight problems, or doing crash analysis. Like the black box on a real aircraft, the data log keeps track of all helicopter flight information.
Low Battery Indicator
The Draganflyer X4 helicopter battery and handheld controller battery level are monitored in real-time and displayed on the controller screen. An audible warning sounds and a visual alert pops up when the battery becomes dangerously low. If the helicopter continues to be flown, an auto landing will occur before the battery completely discharges.
Maximum Operating Ceiling
The Draganflyer X4 helicopter can be programmed to restrict flight below a configurable maximum altitude.
Motor Arming System
In order to protect all those who use the Draganflyer X4 a motor arming system is included. This feature ensures that the motors on the helicopter will not start until the helicopter has been armed. This prevents contact with spinning rotors, bumping the throttle on the transmitter will not start the motors until the helicopter has been armed. During the arming process the user is alerted audibly that the system is now armed and ready for take off. After landing the system can be disarmed to allow users to safely approach the helicopter.
Transmission Frequencies
Data and control information for the helicopter are sent at 2.4GHz with automatic channel selection to eliminate frequency conflicts. This ensures a reliable and secure connection. Streaming video is sent at 5.8GHz, eliminating the possibility of interference with the data transmission.
