4 Rotor Configuration
Building on a proven and successful design, the Draganflyer X4 UAV features a four rotor configuration. Ideal for small unmanned aircraft, the aerodynamics of this design work to give you the best stability, and the best flight performance possible. Some of the recent innovations featured in the X4 are rugged carbon fiber and injected nylon parts, an advanced stabilization software, brushless motors and a lithium polymer power source.
Quad Rotor Flight Stability
A quad rotor design provides extremely favorable flight characteristics, because of it's inherent stability. Because each pair of rotor blades spin in opposite directions, they cancel out any torque (rotation caused by the spinning rotor blades momentum), keeping the helicopter flying straight and true. Besides making the helicopter easier to fly, counter rotating propellers increase efficiency and flight times, because no extra thrust is needed to compensate for unwanted rotation.
Very Few Moving Parts
Because moving parts require maintenance, we've almost completely eliminated them from the design. Without any gears or other parts to wear out, the Draganflyer X4 is an extremely economical solution to your aerial photography and videography needs.
The quad rotor design does more than provide exceptional flight performance, it simplifies the entire design of the helicopter. Instead of relying on complicated cyclic collective pitch control, differential thrust from the four evenly spaced rotor blades provides control. Each carbon fiber rotor blade is directly driven (without any gears) by one high end, brushless motor. Because of the design simplicity, maintenance time is completely eliminated. Simply take the helicopter out of the rugged, military grade carrying case, power on the systems, and fly. Total set up time is measured in seconds, eliminating the possibility of ever missing a shot.
Brushless motors and carbon fiber rotor blades are the only moving parts on the Draganflyer X4 helicopter. Because of the direct drive configuration, there are no gears to wear out.
